Join us at Somers Gallery on 5 September for an afternoon exploring contemporary Cuba through films, visual art and conversations!
Programme:
🎞️ 2:00 pm | Film Screenings & Commentary
Short films by Fernando Fraguela (@palenque_films), Yaritza Guirado (@yaryguirado), and Carlos Alejandro Halley (@carlosalejandrohalley), which explore memory and displacement. Introduced by film curator Léo Krenzer (@leo.krenzer), the screenings will be followed by commentary and an audience Q&A.
🎨 4:30 pm | Panel Discussion: Artists, Movement and Production Across Borders
Join art professionals Jasmine Chohan (@jasminechohan), Amanda Colina (@nadama_glezco), and Gabriela Román (@gabriela_rglez) for a conversation moderated by Raquel González (@raquel_gonzalez_ei). Together, they’ll explore how migration and mobility are shaping contemporary Cuban artistic practice, from independent initiatives and emerging artists to the evolving cultural landscape within and beyond the island.

Stay for Cuban cocktails and nibbles, and the chance to continue the conversation.
